Volunteering

Volunteers make up the core of Eyeshine with many of our programs including a mentor. We currently partner with UCSB and other local school and community groups but would love to have volunteers from other places as well! Enjoy making a difference in someone’s life while giving back to your community, no experience or special skills required. We have opportunities to make a real difference and work to match that to your area of interest We have some positions that require special skills and experience, others simply require an open mind and the ability to have fun!

Student Volunteer Highlight

Abbey Eads, one of our students, had the vision to form her own peer volunteer group called the Ventura High School Eyeshine Alliance:

“Ventura High Eyeshine Alliance promotes equality and community. We strive to bridge the gap between the blind and the sighted and move forward as a strong united force. We aim to achieve this bonded community by participating in fun and engaging activities, and educating each other on the different lens’ we view our worlds through.”
